An interview about how I got into casting vulvas, the stigma of being an artist whose main subject revolves around genitalia, being censored, and how censorship can affect not only art communities or sex ed communities but the whole world we live in!
Chortle Comedy News article on TV show Fleabag showing artwork very similar to mine in the “Sexhibition” sequence from the famous Season 1 finale. They originally asked about commissioning me and hiring works they then went quiet. It is tiresome defending myself from accusations of me copying Fleabag every time I show my ‘4×4’ sculpture, when in fact the sculpture predates the program by a decade!

For a NEW 10th anniversary VAGINA WALL!
Lockdowns notwithstanding, in periods of liberty I’m creating a new, large scale wall of vagina casts (well vulvas actually), working title ‘Viva La Vulva’, to be unveiled in 2021, ten years on from The Great Wall of Vagina. I’m again seeking hundreds of volunteers to be part of this important artwork. WHATEVER you have down there is normal and I want to show the world what that looks like so everyone gets to feel normal. Now more than ever we need positive portrayals of diversity in all its forms.
I’m also creating all kinds of other interesting works for which I need you and your friends to come and get involved. It’s fun and free and fabulously liberating. Lets make art history together…
Following government guidance I’m delighted to announce that my studio is open again to the public and we’re still able to get stuff done in time for CHRISTMAS!! You may visit as before but by appointment only and there will be protocols in place to keep you and me and my staff safe. Thank you for bearing with me. The month of closures have been extremely hard to endure and hugely difficult for my business. Fortunately, unlike many small businesses, we have weathered the storm and look forward to welcoming you back…
As per our earlier closure message here are some great ways you can support the arts which will struggle for a long time to come…
I have been a professional artist for over 25 years, working largely in figurative sculpture and photography. I take a multidisciplinary approach, creating highly finished, museum quality artworks from my UK and USA studios.
I work in many materials including bronze, steel, glass, marble, fibreglass and found objects. As well as nudes I’m known for my genital sculptures: Some are social commentary and others are simply humorous but they appear to have started a movement…
I have developed an experimental photographic technique using an adapted document scanner as a digital camera. The images have a decidedly painterly look and feel, taking photography in its literal sense of ‘painting with light’.
My latest photographic series are national flags made from hundreds of volunteers in their underwear, raising funds and awareness to combat the scourge of breast cancer.
1 Man, 5 Years, 400 Women – “Changing female body image, showing normal vulva variety and combatting genital shame” was the ethos behind this world famous sociopolitical artwork.
Jamie is in New York to attend Frieze & The Other Art fair VIP events. He’ll be casting volunteer’s vulvas for the latest incarnation of The Great Wall of Vagina. To participate enquire here asap as spaces are limited…

I’ve been up to my sociopolitical tricks again but this time my focus is nipples! I took to the streets of Brighton to ‘nipple-bomb’ the city with hundreds of plaster cast nipple fridge magnets as part of the #FreeTheNipple campaign
