Artwork Portfolios

“Jamie’s exhibition is controversial – there is no doubt about that. As a piece of art, it fulfils all the most basic criteria – a multi-layered experience, it informs, it questions and it provokes a reaction, both emotional and academic. With over 25 years experience as a professional artist my portfolio is hugely varied. Thematically, however, my non-commercial work has been pretty consistent, concentrating largely on the human body as well as the human condition. I divide my practice into figurative and portrait sculpture commissions and gallery shows alongside my more personal work which often has a strong sociopolitical basis and is frequently experimental in nature. My most recognised major work is The Great Wall of Vagina, which has kept me constantly in the international press since 2008, three years before it was even finished.

My previous work as a sculptor and prop maker in the film industry has influenced my sculptural practice as I employ numerous new materials and processes that I learned on films. I also ran my own metal forge, making abstract, animal sculptures in steel and scrap metal. In 1997 I established what has become the UK’s most successful body casting studio, creating private and commercial figurative sculpture commissions in glass, fibreglass and bronze for clients, including celebrities and royals in many countries around the world. I still oversee that business, employing and mentoring many other artists over the years.
