Figurative sculpture of a tall and lean man supported on a ladder as Jesus, on display as a public artwork at Ripon Cathedral, UK. Created for artist Jacqui Parkinson, as part of her Tree of Life installation.
This was a particularly complex pose which required careful support for the model and to ensure his hands and feet lined up perfectly with the ladder. It took a team of six people to make the mould, which is standard for a full body.
Fibreglass was the appropriate materials for this work as it is strong but lightweight. The final piece she covered in a thing fabric akin to the Turin shroud.
I have made a lot of figurative sculptures for other artist over the years, including for Damien Hirst.
