Absurdity is a theme I love to explore in my work and there is little more absurd that a gold-plated bell-end created as a mascot for my jaguar. Parodying the male obsession with muscle cars it seems to amuse as it’s been stolen twice. This specimen I cast from myself for another artwork and use it to make all sorts of nonsense.
In the words of the Iceland Phallological Museum in perhaps the strangest email I have ever received:
“We have noticed photos of your penis head knobs and feel compelled to compliment you on the penis head you used for your original mould. Not knowing the size or scale, it’s impossible to tell if it’s a particularly large penis, but the head is absolutely perfect!
Was that your own penis used in making the master, or someone else? Whoever the penis belongs to should consider leaving it to our Penis Museum when he’s done with it. He could put the penis (balls too) in his Will, leaving them to us for preservation and display.”
The cheeky title refers to the below aphorism stating that not everything that looks precious or true turns out to be so. Famously quoted in William Shakespeare’s, The Merchant of Venice:
All that glisters is not gold—
Often have you heard that told.
