Objets d'Aft

Lucky Strike An early work from the first Objets d'Aft series. The cigarettes mounted in primed mousetraps says it all really. Arranged and painted to resemble a cigarette packet it takes a poke at cigarette advertising whilst graphically illustrating the trap of addiction. Using humour to comment on social and environmental issues has been a theme Jamie has revisited throughout his career. Whereas as he might usually encourage people to touch his sculptures, this one is defiantly the out of bounds. I have recently restored this piece to pass comment on the new UK smoking ban. Edition: Unique Year created: 1990/2007 Dimensions: 30 x 45 cm Medium: Mousetraps, cigarettes and acrylic paint.
